Kiln dried black American walnut bowl turning blank measuring 5 inches in diameter, with a thickness of approximately 2 inches (this can vary by +/- 0.25 inches due to starting board thickness). Each blank is cut to a round shape and has its edge sealed with parrafin wax. Black walnut is an exceptional hardwood with a rich, lustrous colour and beautiful grain pattern. Botanical name Juglans nigra, American black walnut machines and takes finishes well, with oils in particular enhancing the wood's colour and really bringing out the grain pattern.
