Water-soluble powders dissolve in warm water and are the easiest to work with — ideal for beginners and general woodworking. Alcohol-soluble dyes dissolve in methylated spirit or isopropanol for faster drying and deeper penetration. Metal complex dyes offer the highest lightfastness and are preferred for professional furniture work and pieces exposed to sunlight.

All powders are sold in 1oz (28g) packs, with bulk options available for workshops and production use. A little goes a long way — one pack can make several litres of dye depending on concentration.
