Incudo is the largest specialist supplier of cast acrylic and decorative laminate materials in our catalogue, and one of the most useful brands to know if you're working in cast acrylic, celluloid, pearloid or shell. Their range covers cast acrylic sheets in coloured, pearlescent, glittering, marble-effect and tortoiseshell finishes, plus celluloid laminate acrylics, pearloid scratchplate stock, mother of pearl and abalone, fretmarkers and pre-cut inlays.

The Incudo catalogue is built for makers who care about the surface, not just the material. Luthiers reach for it for pickguards, headstock veneers and binding. Jewellers and small-furniture makers use the patterned acrylics for inlays and panels. Pen and knife-scale makers come for the celluloid and pearloid blanks. If you've seen a striking finish on a custom guitar or a piece of inlaid furniture, there's a decent chance the material started life on an Incudo sheet.

Sheet sizes vary by line, from small sample pieces up to A3 and larger. Thicknesses generally run 1.5mm to 6mm. When you're browsing, the main fork is cast acrylic (premium optical clarity, laser-cuts cleanly) versus celluloid laminate (warmer look, traditional luthier choice for scratchplates). Pick by the finished feel you're after.

Dartfords is the UK's specialist brand for traditional nitrocellulose guitar finishing, and the brand we've built the largest part of our finishing catalogue around. If you're spraying a guitar body, refinishing a vintage neck, or sealing a piece of furniture with a proper lacquer, you'll find what you need here.

The Dartfords range covers nitrocellulose aerosols (over 100 colours and clears for guitar bodies), brushable nitro lacquers, sanding sealers, primers and specialist neck lacquers. Beyond the lacquer range, Dartfords also makes interior wood dyes in water-based and spirit-based formulations, wax polishes, danish and tung oils, fillers, and a full set of finishing sundries from masking tape to filler sticks. It's a finisher's brand built by people who actually finish things.

For guitar work, Dartfords nitrocellulose is the real thing: genuine nitro, not acrylic or cellulose substitutes, so it cuts back, blends and ages the way traditional finishes are supposed to. For woodworking and furniture, the wood dye range covers the colours that come up most often (oak, mahogany, walnut, rosewood, plus the less common ones like sherwood green and pelham blue). Check individual product pages for coverage, drying times and recommended top-coat partners.

Luthitec specialises in decorative finishing components for guitar builders and luthiers — the kind of parts you see on the outside of an instrument once a build's done. We carry one of the largest Luthitec ranges in the UK, including body decals and wraps, headstock decals, pickguards, fret markers and shell inlay material.

Their body decal and wrap range is what most builders come for: over 150 paisley designs sized for Telecaster and similar solid-body shapes, plus metallic foil, snakeskin, tartan, holographic and abstract patterns. Choose paper-backed body decals when you're going to seal everything under lacquer, or waterslide decals when the finish is already cured. The pickguard, headstock decal and inlay ranges round out a full visual-finishing kit from one vendor.

Two practical tips when picking from this range. First, paper-backed wraps cover larger areas faster but expect a small learning curve on application — our paisley body decal application guide on the blog walks through it. Second, waterslide decals are the more forgiving choice for headstock logos and one-off detail work. If you're not sure which suits the project, the product page tells you which finish stage it's designed for.
