Turners' Mill
Turners' Mill supplies ready-to-turn wood blanks for bowl turning, spindle work, pen making and small turned-object work. If you've got a lathe and a project in mind, this is where to find the timber for it.
The range covers bowl blanks (the chunky stock you start a bowl, hollow form or platter from), spindle blanks (longer, narrower pieces for chair legs, tool handles, balusters and architectural turning), and pen blanks (small-diameter stock sized for pen and small-turnery kits). Species available range across native UK timbers like oak, ash, beech and cherry through to figured and exotic species; check individual product pages for current stock.
A few notes worth knowing when picking blanks. Bowl blanks are sold by face diameter and depth, so pick a blank a comfortable margin larger than the finished bowl size. Pen blanks are typically supplied in matched pairs or sets for production runs. Whether a blank is rough-sawn, sealed or part-dried makes a real difference to how it turns and how much it'll move as it dries. The product description will tell you what state it's in, and we'd rather you ask than guess.
