Primer: This is non-negotiable! A good quality spray primer (choose one suitable for the surface – wood, metal, plastic) is the key to durability.
Aerosol Paint: Choose your colours! Think about your room's colour scheme. Do you want a bold statement piece or something that blends in?
Top Coat/Sealer: A clear spray lacquer (in matte, satin, or gloss) will protect your masterpiece from scuffs and scratches.
Step-by-Step: From Forgotten to Fabulous
Step 1: The Prep Work (Don't Skip This!)
The secret to a professional finish is all in the preparation. Find a well-ventilated area – outdoors on a calm day is perfect.
Clean It Thoroughly: Give your piece a good scrub with sugar soap and water to remove dirt, grease, and grime. Let it dry completely.
Scuff and Sand: You don't need to strip it bare! Just give the entire surface a light sanding with medium-grit sandpaper. The goal is to "scuff" the surface to give the primer something to grip onto.
